The distinct features of the La Tene culture that was established in the Carpathian Basin originated from the mixture of the Celts and the original population inhabiting the region and their relations to the neighbouring peoples. One of the consequences of the strong Balkan influence was the adoption of the Hellenistic two-handled vessel (kantharos) and the application of the filigree technique. Images of animal fights on vessels are of Scythian origins, while the anthropomorphic handle is rooted in Italo-Etruscan traditions.
