The Protestant churches
The items used in Protestant churches were characterized by Puritan simplicity. Where possible, unornamented Eucharistic vessels and pewter were used. The more elaborate chalices and vessels were donated by aristocrats and burghers. By contrast, the embroidered altarcovers made by the donors were more colorful, with bunches of flowers in their corners.
