Relics from Late Antique culture and Avar-Byzantine contacts. Apart from the Eastern legacy, there are a large number of archaeological finds dating from the early Avar period (end of the 6th century - end of the 7th century A.D.), which bear evidence of intense Avar-Byzantine relations up to 626 A.D. Such finds are particularly common in the territory of former Pannonia where Roman traditions were also preserved. This territory was influenced by Western Germanic peopled as well and the local development resulted in a unique, varied culture. Due to the Avar attacks at the end of the 6th century, Christian inhabitants were also reloated there from Dalmatia. Byzantine-type jewelry ornamented with peacocks, baskets, Greek monograms and Biblical scenes.
