The chief in Haga

Many graves of men and women dating back to the Bronze Age show that there were major social differences in the community in those days. One example is the rich grave of a man in Uppland, Bondkyrka, Haga. The man buried here is thought to have been a great chief in Malardalen. The sword was a novel weapon and was placed in the grave with the man so that it could go with him to the afterlife. In terms of gold, this grave is the richest in Scandinavia dating from this period, 1100-900 BC.
