Pottery rhyton (ritual pouring vessel) in the form of a bull's head. Mycenaean, 1300-1200 B.C. (LHIIIb) Found in a tomb on Karpathos. Ritual sprinklers or liberation vessels were frequently made in the shape of animal heads with small holes in the mouth to allow the liquid to escape. The bull's head is the most popular form.
