30 mina duck-shaped weight

The inscription on this large 15 kg weight tells us it is from the palace of Eriba-Marduk, King of Babylon, but it was excavated in the city of Nimrud in northern Iraq. It had probably been looted from Babylon to the Assyrian capital.

Reign of Eriba-Marduk, about 770 B.C.

From Nimrud, northern Iraq
