Pre-christian mother and child figure.

Woman and baby

Boeotia had a long tradition of producing terracotta figures for either ritual or funerary use. Often they exhibit distinct local characteristics. This woman's elaborate hairdo, typical of Boeotia, would later develop into an even more exotic style.

Made in Boeotia about 450 - 440 B.C.
