Architrave of Nykaiankh

This block crowned the entrance portico of Nykaiankh's tomb chapel. The text lists the festivals at which offerings were to be presented to nourish his spirit. Two of them were New Year's festivals. Others honored deities such as Osiris, Thoth and Min.

Nykaiankh was an inspector of priests at the sun temple and pyramid complex of King Userkaf. He also acted as chief priest of the sun-god Ra and the goddess Hathor in the sun temple of King Neferirkara, Userkaf's second successor.

Early 5th Dynasty, about 2450 B.C.
