Stela of Tasheretenmin, winged disc on top

European Museums, The British Museum

Winged solar disc on top of the Stela of Tasheretenmin

This stela belonged to a priestess of the fertility god Min. She is shown at both ends of the main scene, worshipping various deities. From left to right, they are Min, Horus, Nephthys, Repit, Isis, Horus (again), Anubis and Osiris.

At the top, under a winged sun-disc, the heavenly waters are sailed by two solar boats. One is occupied by a scarab, the other by a ram, representing the morning and evening sun respectively (Khepri and Atum). The text at the bottom invokes offerings for the deceased.

Late Ptolemaic Period, 2nd or 1st century B.C.

From Akhmim
