Baked clay spindle-whorls. These objects were used to spin thread from animal or plant fibers. A wooden or bone spindle was placed through the central hole. The decoration showed how fast the whorl was moving and how tightly the thread was being spun. 3rd millennium B.C., Early Bronze Age From Troy, west Turkey
