Text, Stela for Isis and Horus

Isis suckles her son Horus, a naked child with sidelock. Egyptian myth presents Horus as rightful heir to the throne of his father Osiris, who had been killed by the god Seth. Isis magically revived Osiris and conceived Horus, whom she bore and raised in secrecy. Horus ultimately defeated Seth and won the throne. Royal representation on this stela is only referenced by an empty cartouche. From late Ptolemaic times the names of rulers were often omitted because of troubles with the royal succession.
