The Taylor Prism

A six-sided clay prism lists the campaigns of the Assyrian king Sennacherib from his accession in 705 B.C. until his final war against Babylon. It itemizes tribute from Hezekiah, King of Judah, in 701 B.C. It was acquired by Colonel R. Taylor, after whom it is named and played a crucial part in the decipherment of cuneiform script.
