Tomb reliefs of Urirenptah

These are some of the scenes that adorned the offering chapel of Urirenptah's mastaba tomb. It was believed that the magical power of such images and accompanying texts would replicate life as experienced on earth in the afterlife.

The scenes were a typical feature of elite tombs and selected from a standard repertoire. Many were concerned with the production of food and with other daily activities for the tomb owner's eternal benefit and enjoyment.
