Postclassic Rituals. The blood was life, and was the most valuable gift in the eyes of the gods. The Pipil practiced sacrifices on people and animal. Victims of sacrifice were usually prisoners whose heart was extracted, sometimes they were drowned, skinned, and butchered. Another practice was ritual cannibalism.
