Text, 18th Century Epitaphios with Man of Sorrows

This 18th century Epitaphios, from the Dionysios Loverdos Collection, is an embroidered liturgical cloth made of red velvet. It features the "Man of Sorrows" - the half-length body of Christ - standing next to a large cross with two accompanying angels. The main scene is bordered by elaborate gold thread Greek inscriptions.
