The Temple of Apollo was dedicated to the god of light, prophecy, music, and healing. It served as a major religious center where Corinthians performed worship and cult rituals central to their civic life.
Only seven of the original columns remain standing today. The temple was built when Corinth controlled important trade routes between the eastern and western Mediterranean through its two ports.
Built in the 6th century BC, the temple replaced an earlier structure and continued in use through the Roman period.
