Sacrificial and votive offerings could also be placed in form of hoards, Foundation offerings including inscribed artefacts and so-called scattered offerings could be enclosed in the foundations of important buildings. The offering itself was performed as a ritual act during the construction or alteration of important buildings, especially of sacred structures.
