Memorial stone. This stela looks like a boundary stone but was set up by a son in honor of his father. They are depicted together. Their shaven heads show that both were priests; the son, as was common, has adopted his father's profession. Symbols of the gods offer divine protection. About 900 - 800 B.C. From the Marduk Temple, Babylon, southern Iraq
