10 to 13. Blessing Cross; ansated cross. Byzantine era. Copper base alloy; drink. The manual crosses are used to bless the faithful and the water used during baptisms or feasts. On one of them, the Virgin Mary is designated as the ?Mother of Christ?. The Copts adopted various forms of crosses, in particular the ansate cross, whose upper arm is replaced by a circle. Sharing of excavations (A. Gayet excavations, 1900-1901); E 32171. Acquired in 1925; E 11715 /1 and 8, E 11929
