Winged sun on a hieroglyphic Hittite stele, Pergamon Museum, Museum Island, Berlin. On the hieroglyphic Hittite script. Under the Hittite Great King Tutchalija IV (around 1230 BC), the rock sanctuary in which he had himself depicted several times was further excavated a name cartouche. Their aedicula consists of a winged sun, as it was probably originally taken over from Egypt and here reproduces the title My Majesty (actually My Sun), additionally with one another six-pointed star. The sides are formed by the likewise hieroglyphic Hittite characters for the titles Great King (cone+volute) and Labarna (dagger on flower), while in the middle a mountain deity standing over a river (=tu) stands on the name of Tutchalija (IV.) has. The pose of the mountain god, brandishing a weapon in his right hand, is reminiscent of a representation of the weather god, who is often associated with mountains in the texts.
